Mr. Anderson’s real estate experience includes representation of both local and out of state clients for the past 20 years in all areas of practice, including acquisitions, sales, secured lending, leases, zoning, development and condominiums. His experience also includes easements, boundary issues, condemnation, lien disputes and receiverships. Presently, he is counsel for four homeowners’ associations, several developers and property managers and an out of state bank. Mr. Anderson handled the disposition of over 500 properties on behalf of the FDIC and RTC. Over several years, Mr. Anderson represented out of state clients in the acquisition, operation and eventual sale of three motels, a service station and restaurant, including bond financing and assumption of bond financing for the various transactions. He recently represented an out of state purchaser in acquisition of a Salt Lake County mall, and continues as general counsel. Mr. Anderson’s real estate litigation experience includes foreclosures, boundary disputes, quiet title actions, condemnations, easements, mechanics liens, receiverships and workouts.
Mr. Anderson has been admitted to the California (1978) and Utah (1979) bars, sat as a member of the Utah Bar Examination Committee from 1985 through 1989, and is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association, the Association of General Contractors and an affiliate member of the Utah Association of Realtors. He has given seminars for the National Business Institutes, Inc. (real estate) and the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce (real estate transactions and environmental hazards). He was a Judge Pro Tem in West Valley City from 1982 to 1984. He has also been a leader in the Boy Scouts of America, and the Junior Jazz basketball coach for 15+ years in the Farmington City League.
Mr. Anderson graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Utah State University in Logan, Utah, in 1975. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor Degree from Western State University College of Law, San Diego in 1978, where he was included on the Distinguished Honor Roll, listed in the National Dean’s List and graduated cum laude. He was the recipient of the Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award; the American Jurisprudence Awards in Corporations, Criminal Law, Evidence, Income Tax and Criminal Procedure; the Carl Marks Achievement Scholarship; the Sigma Beta Alpha Law Scholarship and Student of the Year Award (1978).
