Douglas J. Payne joined Fabian and Clendenin in 1988 after practicing with another Salt Lake City law firm for several years. He practices primarily in the areas of real property, commercial litigation, and bankruptcy. He has represented local and national clients in a variety of real estate related litigation. His bankruptcy practice focuses on representation of creditors and bankruptcy trustees in business related bankruptcy cases. He is a member of the Utah State Bar (Bankruptcy Section, Construction Law Section and Education Law Section), and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Utah, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the American Bar Association (Litigation and Business Law Sections), the National Organization of Legal Problems in Education, the Utah Bankruptcy Lawyers Forum and the Salt Lake County Bar Association. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Utah College of Law (1983), where he was on the Utah Law Review. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (cum laude, Honors Program member) from Brigham Young University in 1979.
