Mr. Patten has over thirty years of commercial litigation experience in state and federal courts, arbitration and mediation, and administrative forums involving a wide variety of issues, including long term coal supply agreements, construction contract disputes, securities fraud, insurance contracts, employment disputes, banking, and real estate transactions. During the last twenty years, he has been lead counsel numerous cases that went to trial or arbitration hearing and even more cases that were resolved by summary judgment or settlement short of trial or hearing. Mr. Patten has been involved in the appeal of several cases to the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, Utah Supreme Court, Utah Court of Appeals and the United States Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has acted as neutral arbitrator in a number of cases for the American Arbitration Association. He received his LL.B. from Harvard Law School in 1963 and his B.A. in History from Yale University in 1960.
